Describe your business – what do you do?
I'm Samantha and I am a holistic Consultant, Spiritual wellness coach, Reiki Master/Teacher and children's self-help author.
What gave you the idea to start up your business?
I entered into holistic health after feeling failed and left behind by the NHS. I was in pain and nobody could understand why, I was in pain after the birth of my eldest and I was told to simply use painkillers. This frustrated me as I knew intuitively that the source of the pain needed to be found to clear up the symptoms, so I looked into alternative health and Reiki healing. After a few sessions and then in turn becoming a practitioner, I managed to eradicate my pain and was no longer physically restricted. I could not believe the results and knew I had to share my information and help others.
Which aspects of your business did you need help with? Where did you get that help?
I did a lot of networking and researching in regard to creating a sustainable business. I struggled with being a sole parent, being organised and allocating my time correctly and so I sought help and information from those in my work field and those who had accomplished what I was looking to do. I gathered advice and information and use it to implement action and created more structure for my business and family lifestyle.
What is the most rewarding thing about having your own business?
I love the flexibility around my family and I love to see my clients and students grow! I enjoy even more so when they can see it themselves and see how they can heal themselves instead of suffering in silence and just accepting that they will always be in that negative state, the progress is phenomenal!
What has been the biggest challenge?
Sharing my time with my business and children has been at times, challenging. I found myself being pulled in different directions and not being able to switch off from being in work mode. I found myself eventually getting burnt out so used it as a lesson to make sure I was feeling as balanced as possible in the future, it also reinforced the concept of self-care!
If you could go back and give yourself some advice what would it be?
Relax, take your time and go at a steady space, you are not superwoman and you are just as important as your business so place yourself as a priority!
What are your plans for the future?
I will be expanding my clientele and audience and running more courses and workshops along with releasing a series of children's self-help books that tackles issues such as anxiety and bullying. I am very excited about all of this!
